The Bounty

This is a terrific installment in an engaging series, previously cowritten with Peter Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. Fans of Janet Evanovich will not be disappointed; her writing blends perfectly with the award-winning mastery of Hamilton (“Alex McKnight” thrillers). The globetrotting only adds to the enjoyment of what is arguably even better than her “Stephanie Plum” books. Mission: Impossible meets National Treasure in this winner that one hopes will be the first of many more adventures and more collaboration with Hamilton.

Takedown Twenty

Unfortunately, this once-excellent and deservedly best-selling humorous crime series is showing its age. The unresolved love triangle is getting tiresome, the incidental characters ever more eccentric, and the plots…. Even the author's superb tongue-in-cheek writing can't save this retread. Lorelei King has voiced several previous Evanovich books and delivers her usual outstanding performance. Recommended for Stephanie Plum fans.

The Husband List

This feisty heroine and her marriage-averse suitor create impressively entertaining fireworks whenever they meet. The diverse, likable cast of supporting characters adds a layer of interest to a fast, fun novel. A little drama, numerous laugh-out-loud moments, and passionate kissing scenes will make this a sure bet for older teens and fans of Mary Balogh or Marion Chesney. [See Prepub Alert, 7/22/12.]
