Hunter Collins has known baseball since she went at age seven to live with her dad, the owner of the San Francisco Goliaths. She basically grew up with the game, and the players were her adopted brothers. With the sudden death of her beloved father, Hunter must take on the task of officially running the team, including acquiring new ballplayers. Despite protests from her partners, Hunter knows Marco Santiago has what it takes to push the team to a winning season. Marco is sucker punched by the woman who picks him up at the airport for his new gig with the Goliaths. She's sexy, smart, and off limits. No way he's gonna mess up his new—and hopefully final—trade by sleeping with the boss. Best laid plans aside, passion for the game leads to passion between the owner and the new left fielder. When rumors start to swirl, hard choices have to be made. Can Hunter risk her love of the game for the love of just one player?
VERDICT Although it would have been nice to learn more about Marco's family background earlier in the story, this is another excellent baseball romance from Matthews (Better Than Perfect)!
