Legendary romance writer Kitt’s second “Millionaires Club” novel (a follow-up to
Winner Takes All) is a warm and intimate story about a charming first encounter that turns into a deep relationship. When successful journalist Beck meets busy and accomplished law student Eden at a funeral, they each mistake the other for event staff. They soon find out that not only are they connected to each other by their relationship to the deceased, but also both of their fortunes are about to change in a substantial way. Their relationship grows in a slow-burn that is mostly gentle, with some steamy scenes. Family-conflict and past-trauma storylines round out this loving and mature novel.
VERDICT Fans of contemporary romances featuring multicultural characters with a strong focus on relationships will enjoy this book. It’s a great pick for readers of Jane Igharo’s emotionally complex novels.
