Carrying on Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" series into its fifth book, Lagercrantz leads listeners into exploring more of Lisbeth Salander's traumatic past. The book's title is an obvious clue to the contents as the author employs the revenge theme in essentially four alternating stories. We find out more about the pseudoscientific experiment The Registry that imprinted on Lisbeth. In the present, Lisbeth must deal with a prison stay where she faces a death sentence. Her concern for another inmate pulls her into a familial Islamic honor issue. Lagercrantz continues to envision a fuller sense of the late Larsson's familiar characters, keeping the series alive and well. Reader Simon Vance is the perfect choice.
VERDICT Will appeal to readers of the series and those who are curious about where this series is headed—and to an extent, where Lisbeth's journey began.
