OrangeReviewStarIn this fourth title in Thomas's " Ransom Canyon" series (after Lone Heart Pass), Yancy Grey is an ex-con who has been living on his own since he was old enough to escape his drug-addicted mother. Tori, a well-known artist, is on the run from her overbearing/demanding mother and stepfather. Parker Lacey owns an art gallery and believes she is dying but decides to help Tori get away. Then there's Gabe Snow, a man with a shadowy past whose last trip to Crossroads, TX, ended in tragedy. All are wrapped up in this story of love, freedom, relationships, and a small town.
VERDICT Thomas is exceptionally good at character development, and readers quickly care about all these flawed folks with hearts of gold. The plot keeps the pages turning and answers the question of will there be a happily ever after for this sympathetic crew. Highly recommended.
