OrangeReviewStarQuinn Weller's life is on the ball. She has a great job, a nice apartment, and an almost-fiancé, yet she feels empty and more alone than ever. When she meets Carolyn in the coffee shop she never dreams that a month later she will be traveling to Wildstone, CA, to meet Tilly, the sister she never knew, and settle the estate of that same Carolyn, who it turns out was her biological mother. Now she is seeing the ghost of her deceased sister Beth at the most inopportune times, falling for the town bad boy Mick, and struggling to build a relationship with Tilly. Tilly has problems of her own. Her friend Dylan is living in an abusive situation; she just lost the one person who loved her unconditionally and has no idea where she belongs. Changes abound for the sisters, and both must learn to care for each other and themselves, with the help of some new friends and romances.
VERDICT Shalvis ("Heartbreaker Bay" & "Animal Magnetism" series) has crafted a wonderful summer read that will fit right in with beach blankets, flip-flops, and maybe a little moonshine.
