St. Louis County detective Cate Reilly swore off undercover work after her last assignment, but she’s the only one in the department who can pass for a teenage girl. So she reluctantly agrees to infiltrate the prestigious Ivy Hill prep school and investigate the disappearance of two students. Beneath the polish of the rich and famous, Cate discovers a dark underworld including an inappropriate school counselor and a potential Cartel drug pipeline. But the case is even more complicated than she knows; her old flame Zeke Sloan is also undercover as a temporary Spanish teacher at the school and is working on the biggest case of his career. Neither undercover agent knows who to trust as they band together with Kayla, one of the few Black students at Ivy Hill, whose astute observations may crack the case wide open.
VERDICT This is one of the best offerings by master of romantic suspense Hannon (Point of Danger). As a bonus, it could be read as a stand-alone. Fans of Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, and Lisa Harris will gobble this one up and ask for more.
