When a freak airplane crash leaves Emily Donovan's movie star half sister, Lana, dead, Emily becomes guardian to Lana's six-year-old daughter, Lizzy. To keep Lizzy safe from the media, Emily abandons her 16-hour workdays and low-maintenance relationship in Manhattan to seek refuge at Castaway Cottage on Puffin Island, ME.
