Death at the Savoy

While the company line may be “there are no secrets at the Savoy,” Priscilla Tempest is finding quite the opposite. Though she adores her job in the press office of the swanky London hotel, her penchant for flirting and frivolity comes back to haunt her when one of her mysterious male companions is found dead in a Savoy suite. Unable to trust anyone, Priscilla must eschew her usual arsenal of come-ons and cocktails and rely on her amateur investigative skills to prove her innocence. Prudence Emery (Nanaimo Girl) and Ron Base (“Sanibel Sunset Detective” series) join forces for this first engaging historical mystery in their “Priscilla Tempest” series. The story line is compelling but filled with lighter elements of comedy and coziness. Narrator Eunice Wong gives unique voice to a diverse cast of characters, both fictional and famous, from Richard Burton to real-life royals. Her anxious air immerses listeners in Priscilla’s fraught frame of mind and will have them eager to read future installments.
