Confessions from the Quilting Circle

The latest from prolific author Yates (Secrets from a Happy Marriage) is the story of a family’s healing and learning the meaning of home. After their beloved grandmother dies, Lark and Hannah join sister Avery and their mother, Mary, in the small Oregon town of their childhood, to claim the inheritance of the family house and shop. The three thirtysomething sisters have happy memories of crafting with their grandmother, but Mary’s memories are darker: She is remembering the mother who abandoned her when she was four. Lark, an artist, uses their grandmother’s shop to start a craft café, and suggests that the four women start a quilt together, using their grandmother’s pattern and family heirloom supplies from the attic. As they read diaries from their women ancestors and work on the quilt, the four women share secrets and discover the inevitability of change and the pitfalls of seeking perfection. Old boyfriends from high school complicate things for Lark and Hannah, while Avery’s marriage is not as perfect as it looks.
