In this sequel to All the Things I Should Have Known, Kimberly is marrying her old college beau Ron and planning a destination wedding. Her best friends Hahna and Twila, along with their other sorority line sisters, are fulfilling their ancient pact to be in each others’ weddings. As if this weren’t tension enough, Twila’s private demons resurface; Hahna’s company is failing; and Ron’s ex is starting trouble. Told from the perspectives of Kimberly, Hahna, and Twila (all three independent, financially successful professionals), this ode to sisterhood is about finding Mr. Right while having your friends’ backs. In addition to constant bridal party conflict, each woman has a soap opera of a backstory that she handles powerfully. An earlier novel of faith, family, and scandal by the popular Warren, My Favorite Son, was recently made into a BET+ original movie.
VERDICT Readers needn’t have read the first book about Hahna, Twila, and Kimberly to be immediately caught up in this story. The longtime best friends deal with wedding, sorority sister, and relationship drama, as they maintain composure and appearances and keep all hell from breaking loose.
