The Vibration of Grace: Sound Healing Rituals for Liberation

Sounds True. Nov. 2023. 216p. ISBN 9781649631596. pap. $19.99. ;. SELF-HELP
Vocalist, composer, and actor Breedlove’s first book bathes readers in so much warmth and compassion that they might not even need one of the herbal teas or baths she later describes as a form of self-care—although no one should skip these. This is a lovely, loving book that treats trauma (whether individual or intergenerational/collective) as a part of a person’s identity deserving of care. Breedlove provides rituals connected to sound healing practices and rooted in wisdom that, while it may be outside the scope for some readers (there is a lot of channeling and connection to grace), is firmly grounded in the author’s commitment to self-care as a liberating process. The book includes downloadable online audio practices linked to specific healing rituals and offers exercises that may appeal more to readers with some minor musical background than less auditorily informed individuals. Still, the idea of reconnecting with voice through reiterative, safe activities can only be a good thing.
VERDICT A foray into sound healing that will help readers connect breath, voice, and body in beautiful ways.
