Willa Chandler-Golden has spent her whole life avoiding confrontation and being content with what she has; she's a go-with-the-flow type of gal. All that changes, however, when her husband decides he needs to take a break from their marriage and work in Palo Alto, CA, for the summer. Suddenly alone, Willa starts to ponder her life. When her best friend Vanessa, a writer for reality show Dare You, convinces her to coauthor a self- help book, Willa is forced to fight against inertia and challenge herself. Laugh-out-loud funny, with a memorable cast of characters and crazy family members, this story starts out great but loses momentum by the end. Thankfully, voice actress Christina Traister saves the day with her fabulous singing, outbursts, and colorful narration.
VERDICT Recommended to fans of chick lit and self-help titles. ["An entertaining and appealing tale," read the review of the Camellia pb, LJ 5/15/14.]
