The editors' intention with this book is to create a broad reference to all aspects of evolution, vastly updating Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species, which was written 150 years ago. The Guide is sectioned into eight parts and need not be read straight through to be useful. Some articles are very technical, while others can be read by those seeking basic information. In this way, the volume works for both professionals and laypersons. Each article begins with an outline and glossary to aid the reader in understanding the material. A section for further reading is also included. Biology students will find this material helpful, and those with a desire to learn more about the history of life, genes, evolutionary processes, and the like might also find this a worthwhile title to peruse.
VERDICT A comprehensive guide to all aspects of evolution. Great for students and teachers of the subject.
