Following Letters of Note and More Letters of Note, Usher turns his list-making and research skills to speeches, collecting orations from Socrates, Elizabeth I, and others. Most are from the past 100 years, and a few, including President Richard Nixon's remarks in the event of a moon landing disaster, were never delivered. Texts range in length from paragraphs to several pages, each accompanied by a visual.
VERDICT Every reader is likely to find at least one speech (or speaker) with which to connect. Attractive, with ample food for thought.
