.oo Kingston is in Alaska, hiding from social media and the press after her disastrous stint on the reality TV show Survival Quest. The ex-Marine’s EMT skills are sharp, but her people skills are a bit rusty as she struggles to gel with her new team at Alaska’s Air One Rescue. When famed-country singer Oaken Fox is literally dropped into Boo’s solitary existence, Boo is faced with all of her worst fears. Oaken is reeling from social-media backlash of his own, but he’s determined to learn as many wilderness rescue skills as possible so he can star in a new docudrama that might save his career. Meanwhile, the Air One Rescue team battles not only the Alaskan wilderness but also a murderer bent on using the United States’ “Last Frontier” to hide his victims.
VERDICT With detailed and nail-biting rescue scenes, Warren (“Sky King Ranch” series) beautifully sets up her new adventure, while also baiting readers with her trademark Easter eggs from her other books. Readers of romantic suspense by Lynn H. Blackburn and Lynette Eason will devour this one.
