AJ Spade is part of the STEALTH Shadow Team, a military contractor unit. Amber Daniels is a game warden for the state of Montana. When a severed hand is found on the property where AJ and his team are staying, their worlds are thrown together. The author is clearly going for an enemies-to-lovers story line, but while it’s easy to believe that Amber dislikes AJ, it’s harder to believe that she gets over her animosity almost immediately. Winters also tests readers’ suspension of disbelief with some of her assertions, through Amber, of how police investigations work.
VERDICT Purchase for fans of Winters’s “STEALTH: Shadow Team” series, whose previous installment was Lone Wolf Bounty Hunter.
