Ho, host of the Mind Your Manners Netflix series, provides guidance for today’s etiquette situations. From daily life in the workplace and at home, relationships with family or lovers, to elegant restaurant and travel experiences, she discusses etiquette and how it applies. The goal is for readers to be their best selves, make connections, and behave perfectly in every situation. This may seem unattainable and too difficult to learn, but readers will likely breathe a sigh of relief when they realize they can do this. The book reads like a delightful narrative nonfiction; there are no diagrams and illustrations, just stories, tips, and where needed, a short paragraph about seating arrangements and flatware usage. Also engaging is Ho’s discussion of different cultures and what is appropriate where and when. Each of the five sections (friendship and social life, work, dating and relationships, family, and food and travel) includes information on digital etiquette and frequently asked questions. Ho frankly discusses sex in the dating and relationships chapter.
VERDICT A must-purchase for libraries looking for up-to-date etiquette titles.
