While this guide has a focus that will limit its audience, it is full of pertinent information for those traveling around France's Loire Valley. Featuring full-color maps (including a great pull-out map), inspiring photos, and a clear layout, it gives a great overview of the Loire Valley and Burgundy, including wineries, restaurants, and interesting tourist sights. It opens with a brief section on Paris (highlights only—those spending more than a couple of days might find the information insufficient) and then moves on to the Loire Valley and Burgundy primarily, with information about sights and activities, tours, eating, sleeping, wineries, drinking and nightlife, and transit information. The book features four road trips (Chateaux of the Loire, Caves and Cellars of the Loire, Medieval Burgundy, and Route des Grands Crus), from two to five days in length, including highlights, maps, directions, details, detours , and photo ops. A France driving guide and language essentials are also included.
VERDICT A must for anyone wanting to take a road trip through the Loire Valley and Burgundy countryside.
