Family Photography Now

In this amazing book, Street Photography Now coauthors Howarth and McLaren explore the concept and reality of families in all their variety and depth—both intellectually and visually. The book is organized into four parts, beginning with "Is My Family Normal," in which Howarth, a writer, teacher, and entrepreneur in London, contributes an interesting analysis of "family" to introduce "This Is My Family," an impressive collection of photo-essays in which a number of superb artists have documented their own clans. McLaren, a photographer, writer, and curator in San Francisco, offers a provocative piece titled "Thanks for Sharing!" about family, photography, and technological change that introduces "May I Come In," a remarkable series of photo-essays in which a number of fine photographers have captured key moments in the lives of others.
