Kaldis (philosophy, Hellenic Open Univ. Sch. of Humanities, Greece) gives extensive coverage of the titular subjects, offering definitions of key terms and examining the relationship between the two subjects. Entries occupy between one and three pages each and cover a wide range of topics, such as "Affective Intelligence in the Social Sciences," "Economic Sociology," "Information Society," and "Phenomenological Schools of Psychology." The clearly written entries examine each topic from a variety of perspectives. They provide sufficient explanation for nonexperts to grasp the concepts but are rich in detail and could very well give experts new insights. It would be difficult to find another single source that addresses these two subjects with such attention to detail.
VERDICT Recommended for academic libraries that support programs in philosophy and social sciences, as well as scholars in those fields, especially those with a strong interest in interdisciplinary studies.
