Dear Diary: Run Like Hell

Cemetery Dance. Dec. 2022. 132p. ISBN 9781587678493. pap. $14.99. HORROR
Moore’s (The Godless) latest is a collection of two startlingly refreshing novellas featuring a hitman going under the alias Buddy Fisk. Fisk is good at his job, but in each novella, runs into some not-so-ordinary obstacles. These interactions with paranormal forces lift the stories from good to great and make for a compelling and captivating read. The narrated noir style and snappy dialogue drive the stories along at a brisk pace and will have readers staying up past their bedtimes to finish. Artist Glenn Chadbourne also drew multiple black-and-white images for the interior of the book that are as stunning as the cover.
VERDICT Moore has pulled off a home run with this wonderfully written book. Recommend to readers who like the “Sandman Slim” series by Richard Kadrey and Billy Summers by Stephen King.
