This self-help book focuses on the cognitive skill known as reframing. Reframing is used to help fight irrational thoughts and fears that our brains are hard-wired to go to by default when we are stressed. Reframing helps nervous and self-doubting individuals cast away negative thoughts and focus on more rational thoughts such as their overall talent or level of preparation for a task. Aided by stories from Peterson's Major League Baseball coaching career, listeners will learn different techniques for calming down and getting their mind-set correct during their own personal "crunch time." The skills shared apply equally to a CEO working on a large negotiation and a child at a first piano recital. Listeners don't need to be baseball fans to enjoy this book. The narration by Jeff Hoyt feels like having a conversation with a friend, which is excellent for a self-help audiobook.
VERDICT A great book for fans of self-help works, especially positive thinking titles such as Rhonda Byrne's The Secret.
