Buried Deception

When a young girl goes missing along the swampy Black Cat Trail in Skull Hollow, TX, Easton Crew and his search and rescue company are called in to help local law enforcement lead the search. Local residents believe this latest crime is the work of the Black Cat Stalker, who preys on women along the trail. Meanwhile, criminal psychologist Dr. Mia Frost is consulted to provide a psychological profile and assist with the investigation. She teams up with Easton to search the trails, hoping to find clues. When another person who has ties to Mia is attacked along the trail, police start looking at her as their main suspect. As everything begins to unravel, it will take trust in their love to protect the community from the perpetrator and reach the proverbial happily-ever-after.
VERDICT Although readers might have a hard time buying into Easton professing his love after only knowing Mia a few days, McKinney’s (Her Mercenary) completely absorbing suspense and low heat converge to make a satisfying read in this series launch.
