OrangeReviewStarMcGarrity's (Hard Country) multigenerational epic follows Patrick Kerney and his son Matthew as they struggle to maintain their Double-K ranch through the booms and busts of the early 20th century: the roaring 20s, the Great Depression, and World War II. The characters are drawn with nuance and pathos, and the sweeping story features gritty violence, tragic romance, and even a beguiling mystery. George Guidall's experience and talent are shown to good effect in this recording.
VERDICT Highly recommended to all fans of Westerns or of the author. Even general listeners will not be disappointed.
