The X-Men have undergone dramatic changes. Several of the most notable team members are now dead, and Cyclops and Emma Frost (now entangled romantically) have reformed the team and opened the school, with Frost as headmistress. Their immediate goal: to investigate the "cure" for the mutant gene. News of the cure simultaneously brings riotous demand and panic to the mutants of the world, requiring the X-Men to step in and save the day. Despite conflict among them about the cure being inherently detrimental or miraculous, the team focuses on the tasks at hand. With unexpected allies and enemies coming from all directions, will the X-Men succeed? With a full-cast narration and loads of sound effects, this audiobook is extremely enjoyable.
VERDICT Even listeners who aren't superfans of the X-Men or graphic novels should give this one a try. It just may change how they think about comics.
