Floundering after the death of her husband and having a difficult time coping with the stress of her high-profile job, prosecutor Mia Quinn must assess the state's case against delinquents who have injured a local philanthropist, while at the same time a police colleague challenges her simplistic view of her husband's death. The story is somewhat short and underdeveloped but well paced. The main characters are appealing, and reader Ashley Laurence does a serviceable job.
