1000 Vampires on Screen, Vol. 2: K–Z

The second part of Bacon’s impressive two-volume reference guide to vampire characters in movies, TV series, miniseries, and even failed TV pilots continues to list vampire characters alphabetically by their first names. This volume covers vampires from K to Z, specifically from BloodRayne’s Kagan, played by Ben Kingsley, to Zorina, queen of the vampires, played by Lorena Velázquez, in Santo vs. the Vampire Women. For readers who can’t remember Sharon Tate’s character’s name in The Fearless Vampire Killers (it’s Sarah Shagal) or the vampire who invades Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot (it’s Kurt Barlow), there are two exhaustive and extremely helpful indexes where readers can find their way via titles and by actors/directors. Each entry lists the vampire character, gives their mini-biography, tells the actor or actress who portrayed them, the title and release year of the film or TV series they inhabit, and, most helpful, the names of other vampires they interact with. As with the first volume, this one contains 20 Q&A interviews with actors, directors, and screenwriters, including Mitchell Lichtenstein, Michael Cerveris, Robert Bierman, James Woods, Henry Rollins, and scream queen Debbie Rochon.
VERDICT Horror fans will find this two-volume set irresistible.
