Barnum: An American Life

One of the themes in this work is our country’s complex relationship with the truth. Overall, Wilson’s skillful portrayal of the multifarious Barnum is affectionate, lucid, and lively, offering a new portrait of Victorian-era America, particularly its curious and playful side. Highly recommended.

The Affinities

An exciting conceptual premise of social media run amok is given a shallow treatment here. Wilson (author of the sf series that began with the Hugo Award-winning Spin) forms his groups and sets them at odds without giving any compelling reason other than the plot-needed conflict.

You Will Never Find Me

Perhaps best known for his "Javier Falcón" series (A Small Death in Lisbon was a Crime Writers' Association Gold Dagger winner) along with other award-winning crime novels, Wilson is at the top of his form in this beautifully crafted thriller, with gripping cliff-hangers, great villains, superb suspense, a spectacular twist, and characters portrayed with startling psychological depth.

Burning Paradise

The Hugo Award-winning author of Spin has written a story of gradual suspense and quiet terror, with believable characters and a compelling plot. Fans of conspiracy theories, alien encounters, and supernatural suspense should enjoy this work. [See Prepub Alert, 5/13/13.]

Mathew Brady: Portraits of a Nation

Capital Punishment

British suspense author Wilson (A Small Death in Lisbon; The Company of Strangers) launches an exciting new series with this smart, sophisticated, and twisty thriller that keeps the reader guessing to the final page. Fans of Wilson's other thrillers will definitely enjoy this one.
