Christmas Shopaholic

The return of Kinsella’s quirky and lovable characters who show genuine connection is reason enough to enjoy this story, but watching Becky overcome obstacles, self-imposed or otherwise, is inspirational. Readers might come for the laughs, but they’ll leave with a warm heart.

I Owe You One

Predictable throughout, with characters that are ingratiatingly simplistic, this title disappoints. Fixie's inner monologs have the maturity of a young teenager, while the negative traits of other characters are all-pervasive. Mostly for Kinsella's fans, it's a passable beach read.

My Not So Perfect Life

Chick lit fans, rejoice! This latest stand-alone from best-selling author Kinsella ("Shopaholic" series) is top-notch, thanks to a lovable, slightly flawed leading lady, many true-life situations, and loads of giggle-inducing humor. As Bridget Jones would say, "Well done!" [See Prepub Alert, 8/22/16.]

Shopaholic to the Stars

Fans of the series who love Becky just as she is (and has always been) will enjoy this seventh series entry (after Mini Shopaholic, released in the United States in 2010). Becky still loves to shop, of course, and still makes ridiculously bad decisions. In fact, L.A. possibly brings out the worst in Becky, as her desire for stylist stardom seriously clouds her already questionable judgment. Shouldn't she have learned something by now? Lack of character growth aside, Kinsella expertly plots this story and deftly drops in some unexpected twists. [See Prepub Alert, 5/19/14.]

Wedding Night

I've Got Your Number

Poppy, narrated with energy and enthusiasm by Jayne Entwistle, is full of good intentions that end up getting her in a mess of trouble, but she will keep listeners laughing as she tries to sort things out. ["Best-selling author Kinsella's latest frolic is a bona fide winner," read the starred review of the Dial: Random hc, LJ Xpress Reviews, 2/10/12.—Ed.]
