This is a short and sweet guide to crocheting popular characters from the niche British stop-motion cartoon, Wallace and Gromit. Crochet and amigurumi expert Hicks informs readers about the materials they’ll need and recommends stitches throughout the patterns. The book dives headfirst into 17 patterns that enable readers to create the various characters. The instructions for the recommended stitches are considerably short, so there is an assumed skill level already in place, but the step-by-step photos are quite helpful. Each project listing includes helpful tips for crocheters to consider before they begin, such as the right length to cut their yarn and specific directions for each piece of the character. The most important thing to be aware of, however, is that British terminology is used throughout the book and in relation to some of the projects. The end of the book contains a glossary of UK and U.S. crochet terms, but the book still may confuse some readers since it requires them to continuously refer to this section mid-project.
VERDICT This book includes delightful patterns, but it’s niche in topic and its UK terminology may hinder some readers’ ability to finish their projects.
