After years of self-imposed exile from the Amish community following a family tragedy, Viktor Petersheim returns home to help run his grandparents' farm. There he meets Esther Beachy, who is working for his wheelchair-bound grandmother. An instant attraction between the two ignites, but an accident, the insecurity of Esther's position, Viktor's committment to stay in his Amish community, and Esther's potential marriage to someone else are just some of the obstacles the pair has to face.
VERDICT Hilton's ("Amish of Seymour" books) new series launch is a lovely romance that draws us immediately into the Amish world. Its well-drawn characters and charming rural setting will attract Amish fiction fans and devotees of gentle romances and Rosamunde Pilcher.
