Attraction flares as Sam Miller catches Abigail Stutzman in a burning barn and believes her to be the one who set it ablaze. Unusual for an Amish man, Sam drives a car, owns a computer, and dates an outsider. However, he discovers that not everything in the secular world is better. Abigail, new to Jamesport, lives with an aunt and uncle she doesn't know well and lands into serious trouble after falling in with a bad crowd. Sam and Abigail both hold secrets that could shatter their faith and love for each other. Through prayer, each hopes to find acceptance from the other.
VERDICT Hilton (The Amish of Jamesport) introduces new characters and a new story line into the Jamesport setting so loved in her last series. Well-drawn protagonists facing difficult issues lend a sense of realism, and the romantic tension between the two leads will keep readers glued to the page. Fans of Hilton's previous books will want this one.
