Set in the early 1800s, Texas Rising is the story of the founding of the Texas Rangers. From the team behind the 2012 series Hatfields and McCoys, this miniseries, broadcast on the History Channel, illustrates how the "Dirty Dozen," a group of outlaws led by Sam Houston (Bill Paxton), fight Mexican general Santa Anna (Olivier Martinez) for Texas independence and eventually forge one of the most revered law enforcement agencies ever known. Stars such as Ray Liotta, Chad Michael Murray, Kris Kristofferson, Crispin Glover, Brendan Fraser, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson will draw in viewers, if they are not already intrigued by the story line.
VERDICT This program will be popular where miniseries and Westerns with drama and a little romance are appreciated.
