Striking Out: Series 2

2 discs. 327+ min. Lisa James Larsson & , dist. by Acorn Media, acorn.tv. 2018. DVD UPC 054961266791. $39.99. SDH subtitles. F/TV
In Series 1, viewers were introduced to Dublin solicitor Tara Rafferty (Amy Huberman), who ended her engagement to colleague Eric Dunbar (Rory Keenan) because of his infidelity. She also resigned from the Dunbar law firm (Eric is the boss's son). Now leading her own small family law practice, she deals with challenging cases such as a nun who wants to sue her convent for breach of contract. In addition, Tara is working with senior barrister and longtime friend Vincent Pike (Neil Morrissey) on a complex case of corruption that implicates the Dunbars. Tara's personal life can be a bit of a mess, but where her clients are concerned, she's all in. Series 2 includes some unresolved issues from the first series (some of which remain unresolved) and closes with a bang, yielding lots of possibilities should there be a third season.
VERDICT Thought-provoking legal issues and complex characters; recommended for public library patrons.
