This lavish and officially endorsed photobook celebrates the 50th anniversary of the release of Pink Floyd’s iconic album The Dark Side of the Moon. The band supported their eighth studio album with a worldwide tour playing all 10 songs from the album from 1972 (a year before the album’s release) until 1975. The album was a worldwide success and stayed on Billboard’s Top 200 chart for 15 years. Fifty years later, it still ranks as the fourth-top-selling album of all time. But this book is not concerned with telling stories of the making of the album or the lengthy tour. In fact, there are very few words in the book. No introduction or reminiscences from the fractious band’s remaining members. Just photos. But what amazing photos they are! David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Roger Waters, and Nick Mason are seen in crystal-clear, black-and-white, full-page, candid photographs, primarily shot by Furmanovsky. The images show the band rehearsing, performing around the globe, playing squash, and enjoying life on the road.
VERDICT Pink Floyd fans will enjoy this handsome collection of rare and mostly previously unseen photos of the band during their 1972–75 tours.
