In her first book, textile artist Moodie introduces the basics of weaving to demonstrate the numerous ways weaving can be used to embellish and decorate the home. She begins with a tutorial for warping and weaving on a rectangular frame loom, followed by ideas for incorporating weaving into premade objects, such as bicycle baskets and lampshades. There's lots of rya-knot fringe and tassels and a boho 1970s vibe with a contemporary color palette. The photos have the Pinterest-ready style familiar to readers of high-end design blogs. Uncomfortably, Moodie appropriates Native American tradition via a teepee and a dream catcher, treating these items as exotic accessories for the hipster home without providing any cultural context.
VERDICT The information is useful, and Moodie takes weaving in interesting directions, but the projects are hit or miss.
