Perhaps of more interest to baby boomers than to younger audiences, this portrait of the horn-driven band touches on their high-concept origins and 1970s pop-rock heyday and then their continuing success as a touring act. Interviews with past and present members lend insight into how they came up with their biggest songs ("Colour My World" and "Saturday in the Park," among others), although the absent Peter Cetera, who went on to solo chart success, is the target of some resentment. Director Pardini—the son of Lou Pardini, one of the later members—competently steers this fandom-geared project.
VERDICT The snippets of music throughout make for a pleasant ride; your mileage may vary.
