Boye, a French midwife who worked for Doctors Without Borders, shares infant care tips, focusing particularly on skin and hair care products, their ingredients, and homemade replacements for store-bought products (including lotion, soap, diaper balm, and talcum powder). Boye demonstrates decoding ingredients labels, provides lists of ingredients to use and to avoid, and shares ways to use essential oils for aromatherapy and as natural remedies. Boye’s book neglects to include skin and hair products specifically for adults and children of color.
VERDICT This may be a helpful volume for parents interested in creating natural products, but its information won’t be usable for all parents.
