In this book,
House Beautiful editorial director Saltz and her colleagues share colorful design inspiration. Readers looking for design ideas will find plenty of appealing color-saturated photos. The overall aesthetic presented, however, is not for everyone. The majority of the photographs feature communal living spaces so readers looking for inspiration for bedrooms and bathrooms may find this book lacking. The theme of living colorfully provides only the loosest thread to follow, as even the “neutral” and earth-tone sections feature bright colors, and hues like blue and red get their own brief sections despite the inclusion of a chapter on primary colors. Design buffs may enjoy that many of the featured homes belong to the designers themselves.
VERDICT An oversized book featuring expansive photography, this may find more of an audience with collectors than with libraries.
