Thomson Gale Migrating InfoTrac to PowerSearch Platform

By LJ Staff

Thomson Gale announced July 28 that it had migrated several entries in its veteran InfoTrac products to its new PowerSearch platform. The company describes Thomson Gale PowerSearch as a "cross product tool that allows users to search all InfoTrac and Gale Virtual Reference Library (ebooks) databases in the same search." The shift will make for better content management and custom collection development, enabling subscribers single point access to InfoTrac as well as 300 encyclopedias, almanacs, and other reference standards. The InfoTrac products now on PowerSearch include: Academic ASAP, Expanded Academic ASAP, General Reference Center, General Reference Center Gold, Computer Database, Health Reference Center Academic, InfoTrac Custom Journals, InfoTrac Custom Newspapers, InfoTrac OneFile Legal Trac, Military and Intelligence Database, Professional Collection, Religion and Philosophy Collection. The company is offering the PowerSearch migration as an option to willing customers. Changes will be made to libraries' current InfoTrac subscription only at the facilities' request.
