From an aesthetic standpoint, this book by mother/daughter duo and interior design experts Goebel and Flemming (coauthors, Travel Home) is stunning. Readers are taken on a journey from the seaside of Montauk, NY, and the heartwarming charm of Hudson, NY, to the cultural touchstone of Santa Fe and the bustling energy of Los Angeles. Readers are greeted by beautiful homes filled with distinctive touches that thoughtfully represent their surroundings, alongside reflections from the designers themselves. While the homes are impeccably designed and beautifully photographed, these are expensive residences with pricey furnishings, in mostly well-to-do locations. The “In the City” sections feature homes inLos Angeles and West Hollywood but not New York City, Chicago, or other major U.S. cities.
VERDICT This might work well as inspiration for aspiring interior designers with a healthy budget but not as a guide for general readers.
