Food writer Lynn presents a snapshot culinary tour of Queens, NY, neighborhoods such as Astoria, Long Island City, Forest Hills, Corona, Sunnyside, Woodside, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, and Flushing. Each section includes a profile of several community restaurants and their recipes, notable food shops, walking tours pointing out other shops and restaurants, and interviews with neighborhood "food pros," such as Meg Cotner, author of the 2012 Food Lovers' Guide to Queens. Written in an engaging, familiar style by Queens resident Lynn, this guide is also peppered throughout with photos and small maps. The author's enthusiasm is contagious and completely enticing. She readily admits this is not a comprehensive guide and suggests other books to consult yet provides a useful overview and introduction to the area's culinary highlights.
VERDICT Best for tourists and locals, this guide is like having a trusted friend give you the rundown on best places to go, where to eat, what to eat, and a few of the restaurants' recipes.
