Naomi: Season One

Naomi is a teenager growing up in Port Oswego, a small northwestern town where nothing exciting seems to happen—until one day Superman and an alien dictator named Mongul crash through in the midst of a continent-spanning brawl. As her friends and family struggle to deal with the aftermath, Naomi investigates a rumor that beings possessed of strange powers might have visited Port Oswego once before. After a hulking mechanic with a shadowy past reveals that the first visitation took place 17 years earlier, on the same day she was taken in by her adoptive parents, Naomi is convinced that the truth might provide answers to her own mysterious heritage. Coauthors Bendis (Young Justice. Vol 1: Gemworld) and Walker (Bitter Root. Vol. 1: Family Business) focus on character development, highlighting Naomi’s yearning for self-knowledge, even as an intergalactic war and alternate dimensions figure into the story, all of which is stunningly rendered in artwork by Campbell (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Vol. 5), who quickly proves himself a superstar illustrator in the making.
