Amanda McKee, aka Livewire, is wanted by a government agency that happens to be her former employer. Attempting to protect her fellow psiots (people with psychic/mind-based powers), she inadvertently created a worldwide blackout, killing thousands of innocent people and causing herself to be viewed as a terrorist. Now on the run and excommunicated from friends, our techno-kinetic hero has nowhere to hide. Once captured, she falls prey to an experimental operation that aims to block off her powers for good. While eventually she escapes and regains her abilities, it’s not before her past returns in the form of an unexpected confrontation, forcing her to take responsibility for her earlier choices. Ayala (Age of X-Man: Prisioner X) delivers an action-packed adventure from start to finish, supported by the artistic mastery of Allén and Patricia Martin (both, Wrath of the Eternal Warrior).
VERDICT Overall, an intriguing story that will appeal to fans of the Valiant Event “Harbinger Wars,” who will enjoy the breakout treatment of Livewire. However, newcomers will struggle to follow along, and background reading is necessary to grasping the larger narrative arc.
