Thirteen of interior designer McGraw’s projects—including two Malibu beach houses; a brownstone, a loft, and an apartment in New York City; a Massachusetts farmhouse; and McGraw’s own California cottage—are presented in this handsome book, written with stylist and author O’Neill (
Shades of White). The first 14 pages, including several full-page spreads, are devoted to photos and descriptions of McGraw’s boutique furniture store in Los Angeles, which is a bit jarring. Once past this section, however, the variety of architecture and design styles provides plenty of inspiration for any taste, from rustic boho chic to mid-century glam.
VERDICT The text provides insight into the collaborative process between McGraw and her clients. The photos are gorgeous, and the layout is clean and simple; the photo captions explain why various elements, colors, textures, layouts, and shapes were chosen to enhance each space.
