George Washington and Faith Lytton have been friends since childhood. When Faith loses her parents in a fire and becomes George's ward, he sends her to live in Boston. Twenty-two years later, a revolution is afoot. Faith, now widowed, infiltrates the Loyalists to deliver a message. In the process, she meets Matthew Weber, and the two become close, but they may have to sacrifice their budding romance for their country. Woodhouse's "Daughters of the Mayflower" novels humanize America's Founding Fathers, portraying them as lively, personable figures with human emotions and failings like anyone else.
