OverDrive Unveils BlackBerry Mobile App
By David Rapp Apr 6, 2011OverDrive today announced the release of its OverDrive Media Console app for BlackBerry mobile devices, which allows users to wirelessly check out library ebooks and audiobooks.
The company previously released the app for Android, iPhone, and iPod Touch devices in December 2010, followed by a long-awaited optimized iPad app in February. The apps for those devices, according to OverDrive's announcement, have been installed nearly one million times so far.
The new BlackBerry app, which can be downloaded directly from the OverDrive site, supports EPUB ebooks and MP3 audiobooks, similar to the previous mobile apps. It can be installed on touch-screen devices running BlackBerry OS version 4.7 or newer, or on devices running BlackBerry OS version 4.5 or newer that don't use touch screens.
OverDrive, the leading distributor of ebooks to U.S. libraries, supplies more than 500,000 electronic titles to more than 13,000 libraries, schools, and retailers worldwide.
