Sully Further Ups His Hero Status, Appearing in SFPL Ad Campaign

May 2, 2009

From May 3-16, San Francisco Public Library patrons will be able to return overdue books and materials without penalty. The fine amnesty program’s key spokesperson is Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the US Airways pilot who earlier this year guided his plane to a safe landing in New York City’s Hudson River, taking four library books with him (initially reported to be just one). Watch Sullenberger and other local celebrities in video shorts promoting the program. In his video outtake, Sullenberger speaks of the freeze-drying process he hopes will restore his library books to returnable condition.
