In St. Paul, Library Director's Office Will Become MSNBC "Green Room"
August 20, 2008
The coming of the Republican National Convention September 1–4 means some dislocation for St. Paul Public Library (SPPL) director Melanie Huggins but also some revenue for the library system. Huggins' office will become a MSNBC’s "green room" to house guests, as the network will broadcast from Rice Park, which is across the street from the central library, according to the Pioneer Press.
The week-long $18,000 lease, expected to be approved today, also provides space for up to 100 people, including three offices, a meeting room and an employee break area, as well as 24-hour access to the library for MSNBC. The library will be open regular hours.
I haven't seen Huggins' office, but I have visited a good number of library directors in their offices. The largest so far is in the District of Columbia Public Library. It could serve as the "green room" for a couple of networks.
